Cordoba, 1978. A reflection on the Austria-Germany game which has become a mythical event. A replay of a replay of a replay. Hans Krankl rejoices, the slow motion almost bringing him to a halt. "Three to two for Austria. After 47 years, ladies and gentlemen. A world-class team's on the field today." This was the opinion of Austrian sportscaster Edi Finger three decades ago, and it's also how many Austrians remember it. German radio commentator Armin Hauffe regarded the situation with much less emotion: "Germany lost to Austria three to two in one game. It was a weak international match. That's all for Cordoba."
